On May 9, 2024 Saigon South International School (SSIS) held its official opening ceremony for its new Middle School and a new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) Design Center, one of the first of its kind in Vietnam.
These great new initiatives will not only benefit the students at SSIS. Building upon its legacy to support the growth and prosperity of Vietnam, SSIS is set to introduce and share its pioneering STEAM education model, as endorsed by the HCMC Department of Education and Training.
“Saigon South International School is committed to ensuring that our resources benefit not only our students but contribute positively to the growth of Vietnam. SSIS will become a nurturing hub for educators across the country and a dynamic space to exchange knowledge and skills,” says Head of School Dr. Catriona Moran.
The new STEAM Design Center will house new programs that prepare students for exciting careers in science and technology through courses like Independent Scientific Research, Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, and Robotics & Automation. Designed to forge the next generation of global leaders, the state-of-the-art facility marks a transformative leap in educational possibilities, directly targeting the acute need for highly skilled professionals in the science and technology sectors.
The new Middle School building is a purpose-built facility for students in Grades 6 – 8. It is focused on creating flexible and dynamic learning spaces that promote collaboration, connection, and creativity. The facility includes innovation and creation spaces, a research and exploration hub, a two-story 225 sqm black box theater, a double gymnasium, and a dance room.
SSIS is excited to enter this new phase, encouraging educational innovation that benefits a wide range of learners and sets a new standard for academic excellence in Vietnam.
