As part of the Cultural, Sports and Tourism Activities to celebrate the 25th establishment anniversary of District 7 (April 1st , 1997 ~ April 1st 2022), “HCMC Traditional Boat Race 2022” organized by HCMC Department of Culture and Sports and People’s Committee of District 7 took place at Saigon South Marina Club, Phu My Hung, Tan Phong ward, District 7, on the morning of March 26, 2022.
This year, HCMC Traditional Boat Race has attracted nearly 500 athletes belonging to 20 sport teams who came from sport Clubs, Departments, social Organizations, armed forces, and Businesses in Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces such as: An Giang, Binh Thuan, Binh Phuoc and Dong Nai. Athletes competed in 8 categories divided into two classes A and B.
In Class A, the first prize went to the Boat Racing Team of Dong Phu County, Binh Phuoc Province; Binh Thuan Province’s team won the second prize; the third prize belonged to Binh Thanh District Sports Center. In Class B, the Military Command of District 7 won the first prize; Military Command of District 12 won the second prize; and the third prize belonged to Department of Education & Training of District 7.
Besides the traditional boat race, many other exciting activities are still taking place at The Crescent, Phu My Hung during the Cultural, Sports and Tourism Week (from March 26 to April 1, 2022) to celebrate the 25th establishment anniversary of District 7. There are Ao Dai contest, martial arts competition, water puppet show, lion and dragon performance, folk games, music show, photo exhibition, etc.
