Johnson Budae Tteokbokki Buffet becomes a familiar destination for diners who love Korean food with a unique military hotpot. The restaurant’s founder, chef Han Jong Cheul, invented the dish based on available food to make the taste more refreshing and special.
Military hotpot was born in the 1950s during the Korean War. At a time when food was scarce, Korean people used the army’s ham and sausages to cook with a mixture of kimchi and fermented chili sauce to add to the broth. Military soup was born since then and was loved by the people. Up to now, the military soup has been renovated by the chef by adding rice cakes, noodles, fish balls, a variety of vegetables and mushrooms, so it is called the military hotpot.
Especially, the restaurant produces rice cakes and sauces according to chef Han Jong Cheul’s recipe, creating a unique taste that is favored by many diners. Raw materials and spices are also imported directly from Korea. In addition to hotpot, diners can choose other side dishes, such as fried vermicelli, rice rolls, fried chicken with Korean sauce, black soy sauce noodles, etc.
