On the morning of September 21, 2024, the “22nd Lawrence S. Ting Scholarship Awards and Donation Presentation of 2024” was held at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, marking 19 consecutive years of practical contributions to the education sector by Phu My Hung Corporation and the Lawrence S. Ting Foundation, with a total value of over VND 232 billion.
At the ceremony, Phu My Hung Corporation and the Lawrence S. Ting Foundation awarded 201 direct scholarships, worth over VND 2.41 billion, to students who excel academically despite difficult circumstances and actively participate in community activities. Each Lawrence S. Ting scholarship awarded to university students is valued at VND 14 million per year, and for high school students, it is VND 6.3 million per year.
In addition to direct scholarships, Phu My Hung Corporation and the Lawrence S. Ting Foundation also awarded indirect scholarships, with a total value of over VND 4.95 billion, to various funds, charitable organizations, and educational promotion associations in 63 provinces and cities nationwide, to support students in difficult circumstances, orphans, and those with disabilities.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dang Hoa Nam, Director of the Department of Children under the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs, said: “I hope the Lawrence S. Ting Scholarship will further motivate you to study better and nurture your determination to overcome difficulties. In turn, you will actively participate in social activities, becoming green volunteers worthy of the expectations that society and the Lawrence S. Ting Foundation have entrusted to you”.
Also at the ceremony, the Lawrence S. Ting Foundation received many contributions from businesses and organizations such as: Phu My Hung Asia Holdings Group, Tan Thuan Corporation, Phu My Hung Development Corporation, Phu Hung Financial Group, CX Technology (VN) Corporation, Bank of China (Hong Kong), Fubon Bank Taipei, China Construction (S.E.A) Corporation (CSCEC), The Shanghai Commercial & Savings Bank, Bac Lieu – Ca Mau Fellow Countrymen Association, Vietcombank, South Saigon International School (SSIS), and others, with a total amount of VND 13.407 billion.
Mr. Phan Chanh Duong, Chairman of the Lawrence S. Ting Foundation’s Management Board, stated: “In addition to the Lawrence S. Ting Scholarship, in the near future, the Lawrence S. Ting Foundation will continue to promote programs and activities in the field of education, specifically the ‘Our Better Angels’ project, aimed at improving the educational environment for disabled children in Vietnam”.
